Pastors' wives you ever get in any arguments with your husbands? Let me answer that. Absolutely. This girl does. I have told you in blogs past, the devil is out to kill, steal, and destroy. He doesn't want our marriages to work, and we are the bullseye of his target.
There have been Sunday mornings, or Saturday evenings, he has weaseled his way into my house, or the car ride to church to aim his arrow and strike. I don't know the kind of fighter you are, but I'm not the girl who likes to back down. My husband and I both fight well, or not well, however you prefer to look at it. We are a bullheaded driven team. The devil knows/thinks if he can cause a ruckus before service he can win. But I want to tell you, don't let him win, even if he sinks his arrow deep.
Sunday morning worship comes. The first song starts playing, and boy is it hard to get into, or raise my hand to worship. Ever get that feeling? I just feel terrible for the way I acted, or how my husband said something I didn't like, and it ruins the entire morning for me. I don't want to sing, I don't want to worship, and Lord knows I don't want to sit through a sermon after how I just got in a tiff with my husband.
Fortunately, God didn't call us to worship him when we feel like it. The most real, authentic worship is when we worship Jesus all the time. Worshipping our Savior in the good, the bad, the ugly, when we are sad, when we are happy, when we feel like it, and when we don't feel like it. This means our worship isn't based on condition, and our love for Jesus isn't based on circumstances.
Whether you feel like it or not, Jesus is worthy of praise all the time. Raise your hands sisters, as a sign of surrender. If you screwed up that morning or the night before or even earlier in the week, tell Jesus you surrender, you love him, you're sorry, and worship him all the time. Don't let the devil win for one second and allow your worship to be based on the circumstances in your life.
