"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33
I think Jesus was a glass half full kinda guy. I have noticed lately in the season I am in, my perspective has changed to the glass is half empty. Unfortunately, I have found myself in a season unplanned, and unexpected that has lead my perspective to shift, and my eyes to see what isn't in front of them, rather than seeing what is. I have noticed how the glass is half empty, and what is lacking rather than what I do have.
As I sit and ponder the past three months of rest my family has been called to, I still don't think we have grasped what it means to rest yet. I am too busy unconsciously focusing on what is lacking in this season, that I am not figuring out and seeking what it means to rest in Jesus. But what I do know, is Jesus said to take heart. By take heart, I think He means for us not to look at our seasons or circumstances negatively, or look at what is lacking. But to start looking at the glass half full. To be encouraged, and shift our perspective to thankfulness and gratefulness for all that we do have.
He has overcome the world. We are already more than conquerors, even if this season seems like we are losing. If we start shifting our perspectives, it will change our lives in the seasons we are in. It will open up our hearts to Jesus at work in them. To change our perspective to Jesus' perspective will set us apart, and give us a peace and understanding that surpasses knowledge.
Take heart pastors' wives, shift your perspective to overcome..
