Pastors' wives, love the congregation. Pray for the people God has brought into your life. The sheep are just as important as we are for the kingdom of God. The Lord has purpose for them, and for you in this season of leading a church.
Appreciate their opinions. I know, I know they all have plenty of opinions. But remember, pastor's wife, you are not a wash board for opinions. We carry enough responsibility, without carrying all of their concerns and opinions about what they think our husbands' and us should or shouldn't be doing, or how the church lights are too dim. However, they want to feel valued, and want their opinions to be heard too. While you are not a wash board and carry enough weight, some days smile back and listen to them and other days politely tell them they should take that up with someone else.
Pastors' wives don't get your feelings hurt when someone in the congregation doesn't like the church. There are plenty of churches, not all will be the same. Choosing a church home is the third most important decision one will ever make. So give those people who don't like it some grace, and point them with love to some great churches in your area.
Remember, as you and your husband are leading the church, you aren't superior. The devil likes to mix up leadership with superiorship. While Hebrews 13 does say, to have confidence and to submit to your leaders. It does not in return tell us to Lord over the people. The congregation has value, and importance too. We are all a part of the same church body, no matter what our role is. We are a team.
Love the congregation. Pray for them often. Value them. Give them grace. Invite them to be a part of the team.
