Everyone longs to be loved and feel loved. To be known, felt appreciated and wanted by other people is an amazing feeling that opens up freedom in peoples lives. Most of us desire love, more than we give love. In our relationships, we feel if we could just be loved, then we could give love. Fill my tank first, then I will fill yours.
Jesus came, and brought an unconditional love to humanity. Love in this world disappoints, because ultimately we are imperfect people that hurt each other. But Jesus came and gave perfect love, asking nothing in return. As leaders in the church, we must start loving our sheep without desiring something for ourselves. The people in the church are longing for love, and to belong somewhere. They want more than the imperfect, conditional love they know so well from the world.
Love the people God has placed in your life well. Show them the love of Jesus by loving them the way He loves you without asking anything in return. Hug necks on Sunday morning. Know people by name, and know at least one thing about them. Call, or message them throughout the week, checking on them. Go out of your way to make people feel loved.
Pastors' wives, people need the love you have to give more than you know.
