Yesterday morning I watched a video of children in Africa getting water for the first time. In this particular area 1,600 children die a day from drinking unclean water. They get diseases, sick, limbs have to be taken, and eventually die from the water they are drinking. I cannot remember which water missions group it was, but they came in and dug a well for the children and their faces lit up with joy to see and drink water so clean. Water that was meant for their bodies to be whole and nourished.
What if I were to tell you, thousands of women, men, and children die a day here in the United States from drinking unclean water. It is true. Haven't you heard? When I woke up this morning, the video from yesterday came to mind and I felt as though my eyes were opened to the same thing happening in our own country. Coincidence or not, Steven Furtick's Good Friday sermon was about the "Woman At The Well." He spoke about how Jesus is the well, and the woman came to a different well that particular day to get water. What she didn't realize was the living well was right in front of her. The well that would make her thirst no more.
All over the world, including the USA people are dying without clean water. The clean water I speak of, is the living water. Jesus Christ. LIke Steven Furtick said in his sermon, "People are searching for water anywhere and everywhere they can get it, but the water isn't fulfilling them or nourishing them." Like the video I watched yesterday morning of the children in Africa. The water they are drinking is killing them. So is the water we are drinking. The water of this world such as drugs, wealth, fame, perfection, and so on.
We must drink from the living water, Jesus and thirst no more. Jesus came, He died, and He rose again for me and you. He knew what we needed, and He was the ultimate sacrifice for you and for me to live in freedom in Him.
Clean water is right in front of your eyes, drink from it.
