Today is the day we move back to our hometown. As I sit this morning in a house quiet packed full of boxes, I can't help but be thankful. Thankful for the past five years in Nashville, and thankful for what the future holds us. A few blogs ago, I wrote on how we are constantly walking in and out of seasons. Little did I know I was about to walk my last steps in this season at Forward Church in Nashville, TN and into a new season of rest.
I think if I could some up today's blog with one phrase it would be, be thankful and ready. We need to always be thankful for the seasons we are in and ready for the next season. We never know when they are going to end. When we were called to Nashville five years ago we thought we would be here forever. I think in our human nature we can only see what is directly in front of us and not what is beyond. God had us here for a season, and something else for us afterwards.
I pray I can stop focusing on what is directly in front of me, and view my days towards something more. Seasons don't last forever. We need to be future focused, and heaven driven. When we drive our vehicles, we don't let the vehicle drive itself and take us where we are going. We know where we are going, and we take the roads we have to take to get there.
I must stop living on autopilot, and drive my life in and out of seasons as they come.
Pastors' wives remember seasons come and seasons go, and everything will be ok. Fall comes without hesitation every year. And it is always a beauty, but it is never the same. If you are walking out of a season, just remember fall will come again.
Be Thankful & Ready
1 Thessalonians 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
