The past can be sticky, messy, a train wreck. It is easy to look back at my past and ask the question, why did that situation happen to me? Seeing abuse, death, divorce, sin, things a child should or shouldn't go through as a child. Taking on the woe is me mentality, and living a life of defeat from it.
However, there are two choices I can make. One, I can tell God my limitations are bigger than your ability, and allow the devil the reigns to control my future by using my past. Or I can tell God, his ability is greater than my limitations, and he can use what has happened in my past to shape me and grow me to glorify him most.
Have you ever thought, maybe the devil knows your potential and the person you are going to be in the future, so he uses everything he's got to keep you from it. He uses your past to whisper lies in your ears. You are not good enough. God can't use you now since you have done that. You aren't skinny enough. You aren't good enough, because you are a product of your parents. You will never break from your habits.
These are all lies we face. The devil isn't out picking on you just to pick on you. He is on a mission to steal, kill, and destroy anything in his way. Ladies, pastors' wives we are in his way. We are one with our husband the pastor, seeking to build God's kingdom. I would dare to say we are the bullseye of his target. If he can destroy us, its over.
In Genesis, God made man. He said, it is not good for man to be alone. So he created woman. God knew, man needed woman. We have something our husbands/pastors need. Whether you or your husband believe it or not, God chose you to be the x to your husbands y. The devil knows you are what came next, and that God saw that it was good.
The enemy knows who you are, he knows your past, and he knows the potential you have and the weapon you carry to knock him out. It is time we stop living a life of defeat from our past situations. God is not bound by our situations and circumstances in time. There may have been sin in your past, and things that have happened. Stop asking the question, why did God allow this to happen? Where was God when this happened. Sin entered the world people, long before you. You weren't exempt. Jesus is the only one who lived without sin, yet he bore all our sins on the cross. Allow God to use what has happened to you, to Glorify him.
You have an amazing weapon to speak into others lives who may be going through what you have gone through, or have gone through it in their past. And if you allow God, you can speak over people the hope, resurrection, and life that will come if they give it all to Jesus.
