Have you ever seen the movie, Horton Hears a Who? The entire movie an elephant named Horton hears a Who, from Whoville, that lives on a clover. He can hear the people there because his ears are so large, but no one else can hear it because their ears are too small. He carries around this clover tying to get it to safety, while his community thinks he is crazy and tries to destroy it. At the very end of the movie, the town leader captures Horton, and is about to destroy the clover. But then, the town of Whoville, decides to join in unity, in one last effort to save themselves. They join together to make noise as loud as they can. In harmony they sing, yell, play instruments, and make as much noise as possible, until something grand happens. The community Horton lives in, suddenly hear the town of Whoville.
Unity- the state of being one; oneness. A whole or totality as in combining all its parts into one. Unification. A state of full agreement.
There are countless times in the bible when God speaks of unity among the people. He goes on to tell the importance of unity and the affect it has on the people of God.
Genesis 11:6 "Look!" he said. "The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them."
You know the story. The tower of babel, where God confused the people with different languages and dispersed them among the world. He did this, because they were unified in the wrong thing. They were building a tower for themselves rather than being unified in Him. But, did you hear the importance of unity? God said, the people are unified and now nothing they set out to do will be impossible.
1 Corinthians 1:10-11 I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. For some member's of Chloe's household have told me about your quarrels, my dear brothers and sisters.
We as a church need to start being unified together. If the people of God, its Pastors and Pastors' wives were unified together, the church would be unstoppable. But in order for the church to have unity, it must start with the pastor and his wife. Genesis 2:24 says, that is why a man leaves his mother and father and is joined to his wife, and the two are united as one.
It is time to stop leaving our doors wide open for the devil to come in. He has set out to steal, kill, and destroy. The last thing he wants, is unity among the pastor and the pastor's wife. He knows the importance of it. If these two people are united, then the church will be united, and then the church of God will be unstoppable. The scriptures say, nothing they set out to do will stop them.
Start remembering the promises of God in your life. Let us remember why God called us together in marriage with our husbands. God didn't promise a Cinderella, or Notebook story in our life. The devil is out prowling around, and we as Christ followers, and kingdom builders are huge targets. Marriage is going to be work. But Jesus at the center of it all is what matters.
Please women. Start praying over your house. Start shutting the doors and locking the devil out. He has no room for what God has called us to do. Keep Jesus center, and be in unity with your husband.
