It comes so swift. It plants itself before we even notice, and buries itself deep in a maze. Before we know, it grows strong. Its difficult to recognize, and before long it is just a part of who we are. Like a beautiful weed that chokes a flower. Weeds must be pruned in a garden, for the garden to grow. Sometimes weeds are beautiful and in disguise. Its hard to pluck beauty. But what we must realize is, in order for the garden to grow in all its glory, we must pluck out and uproot the weeds in disguise that are hindering the garden from flourishing.
In ministry bitterness is always knocking on our door. The church isn't going how we planned, bitterness. Close friends leave the church, bitterness. People won't get on board and serve for the mission, bitterness. Finances still aren't there, bitterness. Congregational members say hurtful things, bitterness. Our husbands are more focused on church than our family, bitterness. Under-appreciated, bitterness.
Bitterness is ready, and waiting to come rob you of your potential in growing. It will hinder you quicker than you know, and if you let it, it can become contagious among everyone you come in contact with.
Hebrews 12:14-15 Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many
Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior
We must guard our hearts from bitterness. Not one of us go out looking for it, nor do we invite it in. The bible says to watch out for it. It is a poisonous root, that grows, and corrupts many. Pastors' wives, guard your lives from bitterness. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Don't let him into the garden God has entrusted you. This garden, your ministry should always be watered with the word of God, and the weeds must be pruned, to allow your ministry to flourish in Christ.
