Matthew 17:20 You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
In Matthew 17, Jesus was speaking to the disciples because they could not cast a demon out of a boy. The disciples just asked Jesus why they couldn't cast the demon out themselves. Jesus replied, because you don't have enough faith, but if you had faith as small as a mustard seed, you could tell a mountain to move.
Do you know how big a mustard seed is? This is no sunflower seed we are talking about. A mustard seed is 1 or 2 mm in diameter. Do you know how big that is? 1mm is about the size of a pin head, you do the math on 2mm. What does that say about our faith? If Jesus says, we don't have enough faith, and that if we had even as little as a mustard seed we could move mountains. So how much faith do we really have? I was no math major, but if I were to guess, we don't have much faith at all.
I know in my life, I want more faith that is so small. Like the story of Noah and the Ark. He built the ark in faith for years before he ever saw a rain cloud in the sky. There are many stories in the bible of faith. Be encouraged ladies, that Jesus didn't say faith as small as a pinky finger. That would be a whole lot, and nearly impossible. But no, thankfully he said faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.
Ask Jesus today to grow your faith. Ask him to build faith in your life, so small, that you can speak to the mountains in your life and say, move!
