With church planting there can be a lot that goes into it. The planning, prepping, set up, tear down and so on. Finding volunteers, leaders, and of course sermon prepping. The to-do list can be ever growing, and over consume our thoughts and time. While all of that is important, if we don't balance it, and remember it isn't the most important aspect, it can become the purpose and focus of church planting.
Church planting has so much going into it, we can lose sight of the purpose. It can be more about the prepping, and setting up, that it becomes a routine show. Church, and church planting always needs to be about two things. One Jesus, and two people. Jesus and people should be your most important focus. If you spend all of your time with your to-do list, yet miss the whole purpose of Jesus and loving people, than you are no more than a mere clashing cymbal.
You see, while the way the stage looks, and the band sounds is important, and all the little details can be important. If you miss the main purpose and focus, then you miss the whole thing. Jesus and people are more important than the lights. Jesus and people are more important than the way the chairs are set out. Stop spending more time with your to-do lists than you are with your congregation. Stop spending more time prepping, than you do with Jesus.
