Don't Neglect the Call
It is easy to forget we are a pastor's wife, walking through Trader Joe's, at home doing day to day chores, or even sometimes at Church gatherings. Or maybe I should say it like this…We know we are the pastor's wife, and we own that title, but we often forget to act like and neglect the call to be the pastor's wife. Forgetting to act like the pastor's wife, and neglecting the call of being a pastor's wife, can result in us forgetting who we are.
Not being all who God created you to be, such as a pastor's wife, is not only doing you a disservice but the people as well. Though you may not view you as a pastor's wife that can lead, shepherd, love, and counsel women, people do. God has placed you in this position, and has equipped you for this role, and people know that. When you act less than, and don't pick up your title, and take on your role, it hinders you from walking in your purpose, and it confuses the church.
Pastors' wives, the church needs you. God chose you to walk together with your husband. You should be in at least one service every Sunday morning with your husband. I know this can be hard if you are a small church and do not have many volunteers. But this should be #1 on your to do list on a Sunday morning. #1 Attend at least one service with my husband. When going into church planting, or pastoring a church this should be a priority. Larger churches, you have no excuse for the pastor's wife not being in the sanctuary at least one service.
Pastors need their wives in there. A pastor's wife is one of many titles, cheer leader is one of them. God knew that man shouldn't be alone and chose this one in particular to be the pastor's wife and she has not only an important role to the church but to her husband. I don't know about you, but my husband loves to get my feedback on his sermon. He loves to be encouraged by me, have me on his team, worshipping Jesus, and hearing the word God has given him. Being a pastor's wife can look simple to the average eye, but trust me, it is more complicated than that. She puts up with the pastor on a daily basis :)
Last, if we remember who we are throughout the week and this position God has placed us in and equipped us to be, then we should be seeking out what that looks like. For some of us that may be meeting women to counsel. For some of us we are stay at home moms, maybe we could be gathering with other moms to do life with in this season once or twice a week. Maybe volunteering places, or being at the church is where you feel you should be. Whatever it is, being a pastor's wife doesn't start and end on Sunday morning.
