In honor of the last day of Pastor Appreciation month, I want to not only speak as a pastor's wife, but as a member of the congregation too. Right now my husband and I are in a season of rest from pastoring a church, so I think I can speak for other people who aren't in full-time ministry too.
Husband. Pastor. You are doing great. I know this role can sometimes be exhausting to you and to us. It is a lot to hold on to sometimes. Sometimes it feels like we are hanging on for dear life to the rails of a train blazing hundreds of miles per hour. The burden can be heavy at times, but if we just keep remembering to lay it down at the feet of Jesus, it will keep our shoulders light. Don't forget to rest. You are so strong, and sometimes forget that rest isn't weakness, it is greatness. Rest allows you to breathe, step back and see a bigger perspective, and fuels you up for the battle. You need it, our family needs it.
Pastor, you are appreciated more than you know. People look to you, and value you as the leader that you are. Sometimes people say hurtful things. But for everyone person that hurts, there are seven more people who love you. The work you are doing for the kingdom of God is important, and has value. I know the enemy likes to sneak fear, and doubt in on occasion to make you second guess your call, and if you are making a difference anymore. Shake those lies off, and remember who you are and who God is. Every thing has purpose. Every seat counts.
Pastor, you are the greatest man I know. You love our family, love people, and lead exceptionally well. I can't thank you enough for you blood, sweat, and tears you put in day in and day out for the church. Thank you for loving Christ's church so much, that you have spent all of your days trying to prepare the bride for the groom. I know that sometimes it can be hard, but there is nothing more beautiful than watching you lay down your life everyday for what God has called you to. Thank you for leading our house and the church through displaying a life laid down in faith to Jesus.
Pastor, my husband, I love you. I couldn't imagine doing this life any other way. You are my favorite pastor, and I appreciate you more than you know. Jesus is so proud of you. I am so thankful you were born, and you are so lucky to have the greatest job in the world.
