1 Peter 4:10
God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
One of my gifts in this walk of life is discernment. God has given me an incredible gift to discern life situations and people around me. However, there have been countless times I have discerned a situation, and I have not used my gift like God has called me to. More times that not, when I sense something coming, I put up my protective barrier, I am all to familiar with to protect myself and those around me from hurt. I use the discernment as a warning, a call if you will to "run the other way."
But how wrong of me to let my gift fall to waste, and use it to protect myself. I believe God calls us to exercise our gifts regularly and use them in a way that glorifies Him.
What gift Has he blessed you with? Are you using it to Glorify Him?
In 2 Timothy 1:6 He calls us to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you. One way to fan the flame of discernment would be to pray for the situations that arise through discernment. To start praying for people, and the circumstances around me, and listen to the Holy Spirit's leading, and speak truth into other peoples lives when the opportunity rises.
So I encourage you sisters, first to recognize the gifts God has given you. Second, use your gifts to Glorify Him. And last, to fan the flames like Timothy says and keep your spiritual gifts a constant blaze in your life.
