SeventyXSeven (1/25/11)

I have recently discovered a part of unconditional love. You see, I have this amazingly beautiful baby boy. Justus Mihai is pure, raw, and blameless in my sight. He poops, eats, sleeps, smiles, laughs, and much more. I love him whether I receive his love back. He is seven months old and he cant express his love with words, or actions such as hugs and kisses. I love him just because he is Justus.

What do we all long for? What do we all desire to hear, and feel? One thing everyone desires is love. To feel loved, to give love. To hear the words, Im proud of you, you look beautiful today, I love being with you, but mainly the words, I love you.

I love my son with an unconditional love I have never experienced before. Our God loves us this way. But do we understand that love? I don't. I get a glimpse of it through the way I love my son.

Redeeming Love, by Francine Rivers has recently touched my finger tips. I have embraced it and it has rocked my world. The book was written after the book of Hosea in the Bible. A beautiful story of a man who God told to marry a prostitute. A woman who did not love him, nor receive his love. She ran away several times and betrayed him with not only other men but his own brother in law. He loved her, and God told him to forgive her seventy times seven.

You ever wander why we are so quick to write someone off after they do us wrong? I do. I have discovered the reason is love. We long to be loved, not to be hurt. If someone hurts us we write them off so they cant hurt us again.

We are called to love. We are not called to love conditionally. God said, "Love as I have loved you." He wants to love the world through us. How can we show His love to other people if we run away when we get hurt.

Maybe if we start loving with unconditional love we can show others how it feels to be loved by the Father. There is no Greater love than His love.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:34-35
